CCG Governance

The CCG is governed by a Constitution and a supporting Governance Handbook approved by NHS England.  It is updated as required with approval.  A full copy of our current constitution can be downloaded on the link below.

NHS Constitution

We, along with all other NHS organisations, also abide by the NHS Constitution for England.

The CCG Governing Body makes sure that the CCG meets its responsibilities, fulfils its duties as required by the Health and Social Care Act (2012) and works within the framework of its constitution. It meets regularly and the meetings are held in public, so everyone is welcome to attend to watch.

The Governing Body is mostly made up of doctors and is led by our GP Chair, Dr Tim Dalton. Dr Dalton is still a working GP at Shakespeare Surgery in Wigan and, with the support of our Managing Director, he makes sure that the CCG is always focused on the needs of the patients.

The CCG has two other Committees that meet in public:

These committees make decisions on behalf of the Governing Body.

The CCG has a small number of Committees that report in to the Governing Body.

These committees meet privately and each focuses on a different area of business:

  • Audit Committee
  • Clinical Governance Committee
  • Corporate Governance Committee
  • Finance and Performance Committee
  • Remuneration Committee

For more information on these committees, view the Governing Body papers or CCG Annual Report.
