How to Get Involved

There are lots of different ways for you to get involved.

We have a variety of groups you can join or be on the mailing list for, or you can get take part in one off surveys or consultations on different topics.

Below is a list of some of the different ways you can have a say.  Click on each one for more information.

Join our membership

Sign up to our engagement membership by giving us your contact details. We will send regular newsletters about the different ways you can get involved and give your views.

Wigan Borough Engagement Group

Apply to join this group if you have an interest in how people can help improve health and social care services. Members of the group help us to decide what engagement work is needed in different projects and how people should be involved.

Equality Reference Group

Apply to join this group if you are passionate about equality and diversity in health and social care services. Members of the group work with us on equality and diversity issues by providing advice, feedback, ideas and scrutiny.

Strategic Commissioning Briefing

During this 1 hour briefing session Frank Costello, Lay Member of our Governing Body, will give an update on strategic commissioning matters in advance of CCG Governing Body meetings. Let us know if you would like to be invited to this.

Patients’ Forum Workshops

Join us at one of our regular 2 hour workshops to learn more about a topic and to give your views!

Maternity Voices Partnership

Calling parents and parents-to-be! This is a group of parents and staff who come together to discuss how to improve maternity services in the Borough. The meetings are informal and we provide crèche facilities to enable people to take part.

GP Practice Patient Groups

Join the patient group at your GP practice if you want to give your views and help improve services at the practice! On this page you will find some case studies about the work these groups do and how we support them.

Readers’ Panel

Sign up to the Readers’ Panel if you want to check public facing documents (such as leaflets, posters, surveys) before we publish them to check if they are accessible, readable and written in plain English. We can send you documents via email or in the post if you prefer!

Attend CCG Governing Body Meeting, the Integrated Commissioning Committee or the Primary Care Commissioning Committee

These meetings are where commissioning decisions are made and meet regularly throughout the year. Members of the public are welcome to attend and can ask questions at the start of the meeting. You will find the schedule of meeting dates, papers and the reports that send about involvement work.
