Mental Health Services

Mental health problems are common – It’s estimated that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year.  Whilst some people are starting to talk more openly about their own experiences, sadly there is still a stigma which can prevent people from telling anyone that they’re struggling or from seeking the help that they need.

All the partners involved in Healthier Wigan, will work together to challenge stigma, promote wellbeing and make sure that we help those who experience poor mental health in the best way possible.

Wigan mental health services transfer

On 1 April 2021, mental health services currently provided by North West Boroughs Healthcare (NWBH) will transfer to Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH).

We do not anticipate any disruption to services as a direct result of this transfer. Patients will continue to see the same health and care professionals at the same locations and contact telephone numbers will remain the same. Records of care records will transfer to GMMH and will remain secure and confidential in line with the Trust’s privacy policy .

Referral routes will not change but branding for referral forms will be updated as part of the transfer and will be available via your patient administration system or the GMMH website from 1 April.

Staff and service email addresses will be updated as part of the transfer but to ensure no information is lost, NWBH email addresses will redirect to the new GMMH email address. The new GMMH email addresses will be shared in the coming weeks.

From 1 April, information about services will transfer to the GMMH website: www.gmmh.nhs.uk

More information about the transfer can be found at: www.nwbh.nhs.uk/our-future
